Why do we need a warm up?
Updated: Feb 6, 2019
Warming up before playing soccer is vital for a number of reasons, and this applies to all ages!
Here are four reasons why:
1 - it will warm the muscles (and child) up, making them more supple and ready to start excercise. The activity will also increase the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles.
2 - it prepares the players’ muscles for stretching. Stretching when cold is not good for the muscles and may result in injury.
3 - Prepares the heart for an increase in activity.
4 - finally the warm up prepares the players mentally for the class as they get used to the coaches voice and commands.
